Nothing Cleanses the Palatte Like Chasing The Dragon Part 2
I apologize for the distance of time between updates, but hey, it took Stephen King over a decade to finish the Dark Tower Trilogy, so if that key burning word hound is allowed to take his time, so will I.
So where was I? Music Plus Tv. I was ushered in to see this dude Marc. Admittedly 30, hispanic, close shaved, nice haircut with an Abercrombie sweatshirt. We shook hands and Stuart passed me over as "a really amazing guy". He sat down and said, "I really love how you write, man." Which is ironic because he had never read anything of mine. Scratch that, he may have read my intentionally "clever" and "hip" cover letter. A letter in which I most definately must have tried to cram some sort of gen-X/hip-hip lingo into. You know, to be more real. I can't come up with an example, but I'm sure it was shameless.
We went back and forth, me telling him about Flavorpill and the various scripts I've written, him telling me about the company and the hundreds of things he hopes to accomplish. I showed him rough cuts of our three spec commercials as well as the Spivies video. He was really impressed. I could see he wanted to hire me, for something but he couldn't figure out what that might me. Part of their program is producing low budget videos for bands, and I told him that I would definately be interested in doing that for him. He said he was looking for a writer right now, and that he wants me to look at his website and come up with some ways in which it could be better. If I could do that, he would pay me.
So fast forward a couple days. I scanned the site, and wrote about 6 pages of notes. I ended them with a list of ways in which I could help their company. I told him that I would love to produce spots for Music Plus TV, you know man on the street segments, interviews with bands, set up in studio musical performances. Also I told him that I really really want to get paid to do videos.
He got back to me and said he was impressed by by observations and that he would definately like to hire me out to do some videos. He also said he might have some part time work for me over my hiatus. So tomorrow, I think I'm going back in. This could be cool. Specifically if I can get some creative videos for my reel.
Oh, and the dragon chasing fellow I know, he's out of rehab and with his family. And it's not Rylan, by the way. I had one person come up to me and ask. Just thought I'd clear that up for everybody's favorite night dwelling assistant editor.
