Striving and Surviving
A couple accomplishments to write down. We got a website up and I finished an outline for a Dirk Derby episode.
The website is www.winchandpulley.com like this one without the blogspot. It's a joint effort between Jeff Edwards and myself to make things happen. There's no design so far, but we have a good bit of our spec commercials and videos up. Please check them out.
And if you know any good web designers, please let me know. We're hurting.
As for the Dirk Derby outline, I'm going to email it tonight. I'm pretty happy with it, but the concept doesn't pop like I want it to. The premise of the show, first of all, is it's sort of like Ace Ventura meets James Bond but animated like South Park. Every episode he comes up against a ridiculous super villian bent on destroying the earth.
My episode is about a villian that creates a super-sticky chewing gum that makes things stick to whoever chews it. The person eventually creates a giant sticky mass of cars, animals, buildings and such. A rolling sticky disaster. The thing is, it's sort of a joke on this new Japanese video game called Katamari Damacy. Which is funny for me, and I hope the idea itself is funny enough to sustain the episode, but I might want to write an episode that's a little more accessible.
So wish me luck. I would really like to get hired to do actual writing for something that I think is actually funny. That's such a dream. To be able to justify sitting in my pajamas all day and watch cartoons. Who am I kidding, I already do that.
