The internet is too effing much.
So I just got back from meeting with the Music Plus TV people. I've been hired to do some copywriting for their website. They also want me to direct some videos, probably. We'll see.
I've finally figured out what Music Plus TV is all about. In a nutshell, it's a ripoff of a site called www.maniatv.com . That's it. Plus they're planning on parlaying it into a cable channel. We had a pitch meeting where people came up with show ideas. I had no idea that was what we were doing, but I came through with some gems. So far it looks like a team of about 6 to 8 people, most working for free, I'm assuming.
It's really anxiety provoking for me that the company is so young, and that there is so much room for growth. It should be exciting, but it just makes me afraid that I'm missing opportunities. If anything, it makes me try to reinvent an entire business model for them, and that's just not my job. They really like me there, and there's a pretty decent chance that I might be able to produce a show or two for them.
Damn, watching this Mania TV thing makes me realize how many great videos are out there. I don't know if it's exciting or intimidating for me, someone that wants to direct videos.
I really wish that these guys could pay me more. They're going to put together programming packages for advertisers, and hopefully that will bring in some revenue. This whole internet thing is fucked. Nobody knows what to do with it, or how to make money at it. I sure as hell don't. It also looks like everybody has a website. We just got our own and I have no fucking clue how to make it work. Jeff's nerd roomates have all the control. The whole thing just sucks the life out of you. There's too much stuff out there. Just stuff. Good stuff. Bad stuff. Just stuff. I really can't stand it. Life was so much easier when there was nothing good on TV. Now my compuuter is a TV. I can't stand it.
This Mania TV thing is pretty cool. Maybe I can get to the point where I can help with the programming. That'd be cool.
Okay, back to the videos.
